Purpose:
How to determine the display type of Exceptions to be seen in the resultant BEx Web report while
executing BW Web Templates. For example: to display the Exception in BEx Web report in
Symbol and Text format instead of color format.

What steps need to be followed to determine the display type of Exceptions to be displayed in
the resultant BEx Web report while executing BW Web Templates. For example: to display the Exception
in BEx Web report in Symbol and Text format instead of color format while executing BW Web Templates.
Steps to be followed in this regard:
When executing a Web Template (which has Query containing exception assigned as Data Provider),
the following page is displayed for example.
In transaction RSCUSTV27 in relevant SAP BW Backend system, the following parameters are set:
Here, we can find that parameter Ad Hoc Analysis means Default /Standard Web Template is blank.
It means Default /Standard Web Template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN is used while executing the query
when the problem regarding Exception in BEx Web report in color format while executing BW Web Templates.
Suppose if you want to display Exception in BEx Web report in Symbol and Text format instead of color format
while executing BW Web Templates, please keep a note of the following:
1)Please go to Web Application Designer of relevant SAP BW Backend system and open Default/Standard Web
Template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN and go to Web Item ANALYSIS. In the properties for Web Item ANALYSIS(in the
left side of the page) -> go to section Cell Content -> Here, you can find Exception Visualization (which is
Exception Visualization [EXCEPTION_RENDERING]) is displayed as Color (Default)
2) Make a copy of Default/Standard Web Template
[Analysis - 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN] and name it as for eg: ZANALYSIS_PATTERN3 and in
this Web Template ZANALYSIS_PATTERN3 -> Go to Web Item ANALYSIS
-> In the properties for Web Item ANALYSIS (on the left side of the page)-> Go to section Paging ->
Here, you can change Exception Visualization (which is Exception Visualization [EXCEPTION_RENDERING]) from
Color (Default) to Symbol and Text [SYMBOL_TEXT] and save this Web Template ZANALYSIS_PATTERN3
Please DO NOT make any changes in Default/Standard Web Template [Analysis - 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN]
3)Go to the relevant SAP BW Backend system and open transaction RSCUSTV27 and change the parameter
Ad Hoc Analysis from blank to ZANALYSIS_PATTERN3 and save it and then restart the Java server to
make these settings effective.
4)Now, execute the Web Template in question and you should be able to see Exception with Display Type
as Symbol and Text in the resultant page instead of Color.
